7,000 expected to apply for Canadian Working Holiday visa

New figures show more than 7,000 Irish people are expected to go to Canada this year in search of work and adventure.

The Canadian Working Holiday programme opened a week ago for those seeking to start a new life there.

Data from Visa-First shows that while there has been a decline in those applying for temporary visas, an increasing number of Irish people are looking for Canadian residency.

The visa process has three stages:

  • 1. Create a profile with the Canadian government;
  • 2. If successful, you will be issued an invitation letter from the Canadian Government inviting you to apply for a permit;
  • 3. You apply directly for your permit to work.

Ireland is ranked the 11th highest country to be issued Canadian work permits in 2014, according to visafirst.com.
