A Metro North from Dublin City centre to the airport and Swords looks to be back on the agenda.
The project, which could cost €2bn to build, is likely to be the centrepiece of the Coalition's infrastructure investment plan to be announced next week.
Yesterday the Coalition decided to shelve the DART underground project that would have cost €4bn to build.
In the Dáil this morning, Minister Paschal Donohoe was giving nothing away on revising the metro project.
“What will be the option for the North side of the city?” the Minister said, “I have not given an indication to anybody regarding what that plan will be because I have not brought it to Cabinet and I will only make an announcement regarding what that plan will be when I have secured Cabinet approval.
“While I have been approached by many to ask what that plan will be, I will make that announcement with the Government when the Cabinet has approved (it).”
