100 jobs confirmed for Dublin
Online city guide Yelp is to create 100 jobs at its new European headquarters in Ireland, it has announced.
The company said it is hiring sales executives, account managers, product engineers and finance staff as part of the expansion.
Jeremy Stoppelman, co-founder and CEO at Yelp, described the opening of the HQ in Dublin as a landmark for the firm.
“This new office will be home to our European operations and will be the engine behind our European revenue generation efforts,” he said.
“Ireland offers us fantastic access to multiple language capabilities from a tech-savvy and educated population, not to mention a country that has proven to be a home-away-from-home for a number of existing Yelp employees that have already relocated there.”
Yelp is the latest in a number of high profile Silicon Valley technology companies to locate European headquarters in Dublin, including Google, Facebook and Twitter.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny, on a trip to California, described Silicon Valley as vitally important to Ireland’s recovery.
“My visit here this week is all about cementing and reinforcing existing investor relationships as well as building new connections with a view to securing new jobs and investment for Ireland,” he said.
