British police have taken a mugshot of a hamster after it broke in to their station.

British police have taken a mugshot of a hamster after it broke in to their station.

The "concerned" authorities, based in Forest Hall, Newcastle, are keen to find an owner for the critter, who is described as being "fully grown and mostly brown with a white underside".

Inspector John Smith told the Metro newspaper: "We don’t usually have an issue of hamsters in the station and we’re concerned he may belong to a family who lost him."

But the authorities were keen to stress the issue was "hardly a priority".

A police source added: "It’s all very well trying to find out whose hamster this is but it’s hardly a priority."
