A 12-year-old Brazilian girl is aiming to raise £3,500 by having her first ever haircut.

Natasha Moraes de Andrade, from Rio de Janeiro, is finally going to pay the hairdressers a visit to get her 5ft 2in locks chopped, and she plans to use the cash to redecorate her bedroom.

She spends an hour and a half brushing her hair each day and four hours a week washing her tresses, but her mother Catarina Moraes de Andrade thinks it's time to have her locks cut as they are disrupting her school activities.

Catarina said: "At the moment she is like a prisoner. She just goes from school to home again.

"She can't do anything else, like sports, because her hair gets in the way. I've let her keep it this way because she likes having such long hair, but the time has come to get it cut."
