Danny North hit a double to score for the third match running as Sligo kept right on the coat-tails of rivals Shamrock Rovers level on points at the top of the Premier Division table.

After a tight first half, striker North broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half to tap home at the back post from Raffaele Cretaro’s low cross.

The game looked up for Dundalk six minutes later when central defender Gavin Peers met Ross Gaynor’s corner to head to the net from close range.

North wrapped it up in the 90th minute when following up to score after his initial shot came back off a post.
