Mexican police today found the body of a young child inside a suitcase that had been left on a city street.

The little girl, estimated to be five or six years old, was wrapped in a jacket and was not wearing any shoes, the Mexico City Attorney General’s office said.

She had not been identified and investigators had not yet determined when she was killed.

Police were working with a local agency that tracks missing people to determine if anyone had reported a missing child fitting the girl’s description.
