Women granted Saudi council seats


The Saudi king has granted women seats on the country’s top advisory council for the first time.

King Abdullah issued a royal decree granting women seats on the 150-member Shura Council, Saudi Arabia’s official news agency said today.

The council has the authority to review laws but can’t propose or veto legislation.
