An FBI agent held up pieces of the black and white backpack.
The agent says the pieces were found near the Forum restaurant, where Tsarnaev has admitted detonating a bomb on April 15, 2013.
Three people were killed and more than 260 injured when Tsarnaev and his brother set off two pressure-cooker bombs near the marathon finish line.
The jury was also shown a mangled piece of a pressure cooker, BBs, chunks of metal and a piece of a fuse wire.
Tsarnaev's lawyers have admitted he participated in the bombing but say his brother was the mastermind.
