CCTV footage shows the moment an armed robber pointed a gun at a shop worker and pulled the trigger – but the weapon failed to go off.
West Midlands Police said a small semi-automatic pistol was aimed at a sales assistant at A-Z news, Coventry Road, Birmingham, on October 22 at around 11.30pm.
A man entered the store with his face covered and demanded money from the till while pointing the gun, but the 27-year-old shop worker challenged him.
The robber then pulled the trigger but no shots were fired, police said.
The man seen in the video is described as Asian, 5ft 9in with black hair. Police said he left the store empty-handed and ran down Regent Park Road.
Officers said he was wearing a hooded navy Nike jacket, white and blue Nike Air Max trainers, a cross body bag with a red Nike logo and a grey scarf covering his face.
