US soldier dies in Baghdad bomb blast
24/04/2005 - 15:05:08A US soldier was killed when his patrol unit struck a roadside bomb in east Baghdad today the US military said.
The name of the soldier, from Task Force Baghdad, was being held until his next of kin could be notified, the military said in a statement.
The incident was under investigation, the military said.
As of Saturday 2005, at least 1,566 members of the US military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003.
At least 1,191 died as a result of hostile action, according to the US Defence Department.
