Up to '70 children and 45 women die' in Syrian attacks
Opposition council members in Syria say 70 children and 45 women are among those who died overnight in mortar attacks in the city of Homs.
Syrian embassies around the world have been attacked in retaliation as the UN prepares to discuss the situation later.
It is preparing to vote today on a draft resolution, urging President Bashar al-Assad to give up power.
But Russia insists that the UN must not take sides in this civil war.
Around the world, Syrian demonstrators have broken into their embassies to protest against the worst bloodshed of the uprising.
As many as 350 people may have been killed overnight in a government-led attack in the city of Homs.
The embassy in Cairo was ransacked, six were arrested in London, and there have been incidents in Kuwait, Greece, Germany and the US.
