Two children died and 25 other people were rescued after a passenger boat capsized when it collided with a fishing vessel on Lake Victoria in Kenya.
The passenger boat was heading for Kiwa Island from Remba Island when the incident happened at about 2am local time, regional police chief Willy Lugusa said.
The bodies of two children have been recovered.
Mr Lugusa said initial reports had indicated the boat was carrying 200 people at the time of the collision, but it later emerged there were 23 passengers on board.
The fishing boat had four people on board and all have been accounted for.
Mr Lugusa said 21 people from the passenger boat were rescued.
