At least 12 people were killed in a suicide bombing in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore today.

Senior police official Umar Virk said about 35 other people were wounded, and he indicated two explosions might have occurred.

The blast struck the RA Bazaar, which is in an area where several security agencies have facilities.

It is the second time this week that Lahore has been hit by a bomb attack. The last one targeted a police interrogation facility, killing 13 people.

The attacks have shattered a period of relative calm in Pakistan, which has been battling al-Qaida and Taliban violence.
