Thailand’s prime minister said he believes a state of emergency will be lifted in many areas of the country soon.
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said his cabinet will resolve the controversial issue on Tuesday.
He also said the government will loosen some restrictions in areas where the emergency remains in effect.
The government declared a state of emergency in 24 provinces, including Bangkok, in the wake of political protests.
The prime minister said today on his weekly television show that “in order to revoke (the state of emergency), we have to be confident that we possess tools that will ensure peace”.
