Taoiseach and Tanaiste condemn attacks on US
11/09/2001 - 16:42:23The Taoiseach has joined world leaders in condemning the terrorist attacks on the United States this afternoon.
Bertie Ahern extended his sympathy to the American people and Government as well as to President Bush.
Mr Ahern called the attack “a horrendous atrocity”.
The Taoiseach had been meeting with a special US envoy on events in the North at Government buildings, when the news broke.
The Tanaiste Mary Harney said: “This is a shocking catastrophe, and our hearts go out to the people of the US. We also extend our sympathy to the American ambassadors who are with us today."
