Syrian conflict is now a civil war, says UN peacekeeping chief


The conflict in Syria is now a civil war, according the UN's peacekeeping chief.

UN observers are understood to have been attacked as they tried to enter the town of Haffeh, where US officials believed a massacre may have taken place.

There are also unverified reports of children being used as human shields by Syrian troops.
