Burma opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has met the president for their first talks since the Nobel Peace Prize laureate became a member of parliament.

A government official says the meeting today lasted two hours.

Suu Kyi has met twice before with president Thein Sein, most recently in April. That meeting followed by-elections won by Suu Kyi’s party but preceded her entry to parliament.

Suu Kyi was recently named head of a 15-member parliamentary committee that is to help implement rule of law in the country.
