The town of Amatrice bore the brunt of the quake, which is known to have killed at least 290 people.

All the bodies were found in a local hotel

Earlier: The prosecutor investigating the aftermath of the Italian earthquake says shoddy renovations could be partly to blame for the high number of deaths.

At least 291 people died in Wednesday's quake - with dozens more injured.

Pope Francis is planning to visit the areas worst hit.

A funeral service will take place this week in Amatrice where at least 230 people were killed.

Charity volunteer Giovanni Salerno hopes to build a new school in time for the start of term next month: "We will like to guarantee this one because they need routine and to look to the future and not to the past."
