Scientists link lead pollution to youth crime
19/02/2005 - 09:09:48US scientists say lead pollution can cause aggression and behavioural problems among children and may lead to higher levels of youth crime.
The scientists, who previously found a link between lead and lower IQ levels, now believe it may lead to higher crime levels.
Dr Herbert Needleman, of Pittsburg University, found that youths arrested for delinquency have higher levels of lead in their bones than other children.
He told a conference that cutting lead could cut crime.
