The Austrian energy drink giant said however that "analysis in stores supposedly with contaminated goods on the shelves have found nothing."

Red Bull was born when, during a trip to Asia in the early 1980s, an Austrian toothpaste marketing executive stumbled across a popular local beverage known as Krating Daeng (Thai for 'water buffalo'), that cured his jet lag.

The firm now has annual revenues of more than €4bn.
