One dead after gunfire inside Copenhagen courthouse

A person opened fire inside a court building in the Danish capital Copenhagen, killing one man and seriously wounding another.

A suspect was arrested nearby and a shotgun was seized, police said.

There was no immediate information on the victims or the suspect.

Soeren Axelsen, the head of the Copenhagen City Court, said it was probably some kind of “a family showdown”.

The shooting happened just before 10am at the bailiff’s court, which is part of the larger Copenhagen City Court, and is located behind the city hall. Several streets in central Copenhagen were cordoned off by police.

Shootings in Danish courts are rare, Axelsen said.
