Militant suspect captured in Afghanistan

A member of an al Qaida-linked group who helped finance attacks against Afghan and foreign forces has been captured in northern Afghanistan, Nato said.

The unnamed militant is the third operative with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan reportedly detained or killed in the past two weeks.

Nato said Afghan and coalition forces apprehended him during a firefight in the Almar district of Faryab province. The group’s leader was killed on March 26 in Faryab and another member was captured on Friday in Badakhshan province.
