Polish women have gathered across the country to protest over a proposal for a new abortion law which would ban the procedure in cases where foetuses are badly damaged or have no chance of survival after birth.
The predominantly Catholic country already has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe, with abortion only allowed in cases of rape, when the foetus is irreparably damaged or when the woman's life or health is in peril.
The protests come three weeks after a massive street demonstration which forced Polish parliamentarians to reject a proposal for a total abortion ban.
The new proposal would not amount to a total ban, and would still allow abortion in cases of rape or if the woman is in danger.
