Mugabe 'preparing war to hold on to power'
05/04/2008 - 14:29:26Zimbabwe’s opposition leader says he fears that President Robert Mugabe is preparing a “war against the people” in an attempt to hold on to power.
Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai has told a news conference that his party is reluctant to take part in an election run-off because of the growing risks of violence.
He said today there is no need for a run-off because he won presidential elections last weekend.
The opposition will mount a new bid in the High Court tomorrow for the election results to be published. Armed police prevented lawyers from entering the court today.
