Mother saves son's killer from execution as he stands with noose around neck

A killer in Iran has been spared by his victim’s mother as he stood ready for execution, because her dead son appeared to the woman in a dream.

The killer, named only as Balal, murdered 18-year-old Abdollah Hosseinzadeh Jnr seven years ago.

Under the Sharia law, ‘qisas’ allows the parents of the victim to take part in the execution of the perpetrator of the murder.

Balal, who killed Abdollah Jnr in an apparent knife fight, was lead to the gallows by his victim’s father and brother.

According to reports, just before the chair was to be kicked out from under Balal, the mother whose son had been killed rushed forward, slapped his face and insisted the execution be abandoned.

Responding to the action Balal’s mother then embraced the woman who had just saved her son’s life.

Father of victim Abdollah Hosseinzadeh Snr revealed a dream prompted his wife’s actions:

“Three days ago, my wife saw my elder son in a dream telling her that they are in a good place and for her not to retaliate. This calmed my wife and we decided to think more until the day of the execution,” he said.

‘Qisas’ also states that the affected family can offer reprieve from the death sentence, but they have no say in a jail term, so it is unclear now if Balal will be jailed or not.
