A manhunt is under way in the area around Moncton, New Brunswick, after a shooting in the area.

There are multiple reports that at least two people – possibly members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police – were injured by a man carrying two high-powered rifles, and possibly other weapons including a crossbow and knife.

Reports of casualties have yet to be confirmed by an official source, and rumours that officers had been shot were not confirmed by police questioned by local journalists.

GlobalNews.ca reported that the shooting took place near Hildegard Drive in the city, and multiple RCMP units were searching the area.

The city of Moncton has a population of approximately 143,000 in the metropolitan area.
