Man injured after axe attack in public park in UK

A man has been attacked with axes in a UK public park popular with children and families.

Police were called at 7.20pm on Wednesday to find a man with injuries to his arms and hands after being attacked by two men with axes in Buile Hill Park, Salford.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers are hunting the suspects and have cordoned off two areas of the park in the Seedley area of the city.

One of the areas behind police tape appears to have the remnants of a picnic left on the grass.

Officers were conducting searches with torches as night fell in the park, which is well-maintained and popular with children and families.

Salford has seen a spate of machete and knife attacks, part of a simmering gangland feud in the city.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 7.20pm to reports that a man had been attacked by two other men with axes on Buile Hill Park, Eccles Old Road, Salford.

"Officers attended and a man has been taken to hospital with injuries to his arms and hands."
