Leicester Square hostage situation ends with nobody hurt
A hostage situation at a Leicester Square restaurant has ended with no reported injuries.
A man was believed to be holding the woman against her will in a branch of Bella Italia, with two other people inside.
Officers surrounded the building and negotiated with the man, who was later seen being led from the restaurant by officers with riot shields into a waiting police van which was driven away.
Officers at the scene said the man had been found with a knife in his pocket and had been arrested. They said the incident was not terror related.
The incident had created quite a splash on social media before it resolved.
