Knox 'running on adrenaline' since prison release, says dad

Amanda Knox’s father says she has not slept much since arriving home in Seattle on Tuesday after four years in an Italian prison.

Curt Knox told KOMO Radio “she’s literally running on adrenalin” as she reconnects with family and friends.

He says it will take some time before the family figures out what the “new normal” will be.

The 24-year-old and her family left Italy immediately after an appeals court threw out her conviction in the murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher in Perugia, where both were studying abroad.

Earlier today, Mr Knox told 'Good Morning America' that Ms Knox occasionally slips back into speaking Italian. He said one of the things she has done since coming home is to lie down in the grass.

Mr Knox said: “I think she’s literally running on adrenalin right now, because she hasn’t slept very much – hardly at all. I think she’s so joyful to be around her family and kind of reconnect with everybody.”

Ms Knox was overwhelmed by her release from prison and the large number of reporters who awaited her arrival at the Seattle airport. The family has not yet decided on whether to seek counselling for her.

“It is going to take some time before we figure out what that new normal will be,” Mr Knox said.

He said of her lapses back into speaking Italian: “It has become really almost her first language since she’s been in prison so long, but she seems to be moving to English.”

One of the things Ms Knox said she would do when she got out of prison was to lie in the grass.

“She has, and it’s been very nice to watch her do it,” he said. “It’s the little things that she hasn’t had a chance to do in the last four years that really make it worthwhile and really kind of get her reconnected again.”
