Iraqi police killed in drive-by shooting
Three officers were killed when gunmen opened fire on a police patrol in a drive-by shooting in north-eastern Baghdad, Iraqi officials said today.
A spokesman said the assailants used guns fitted with silencers in the attack in the mostly Shiite Shaab neighbourhood.
A medic at the nearby Medical City Hospital confirmed the casualties.
Attacks on Iraqi forces have been on the rise for months as the US military prepares to withdraw from the country by the end of the year.
