Gun-running ring smashed in UK
21/03/2001 - 18:01:00Police in Britain believe they may have smashed a major gun-running operation after a series of raids.
It is still not yet known if the finds are linked to dissident republicans.
Six people were arrested after detectives swooped on locations in Essex and north-east London.
Scotland Yard believes the weapons, including a mortar and hand grenades, may have been destined for sale to criminals.
