Passengers on the doomed Germanwings flight could be heard screaming in black box recordings just before the crash, Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said today.
The prosecutor earlier said that said the co-pilot, 28-year-old Andreas Lubitz, was alone at the controls and “voluntarily” refused to open the door for the other pilot.
He said the co-pilot’s responses, initially courteous, became “curt” when the captain began the mid-flight briefing on the planned landing.
His breathing was normal throughout the final minutes of the tragic flight.
Speaking about whether the passengers realised what was happening, Mr Robin said: “I think the victims only realised at the last moment because on the recording we only hear the screams on the last moments of the recording.”
Mr Robin said German authorities were taking charge of the investigation of Lubitz.
