Twenty people were injured today when winds brought down scaffolding outside a concert in South Africa for US band Linkin Park.

Cape Town spokeswoman Kylie Hatton said the temporary advertising structure set up outside the Green Point Stadium had been certified as safe by structural engineers before the event.

She said all branding has been taken down and the commanding officer at the operation centre declared the event site safe shortly afterward.

Twelve of the 20 injured are being treated at a hospital.

Officials said the concert went ahead.
