Facebook and Instagram both experienced a rare disruption to service this morning.
The service downtime began early on Tuesday morning, with both the gigantic social network and its photo sharing service going offline.
The outage appeared to be global, before service was restored at approximately 7.15am.
The service interruption also affected other services that use Facebook log-in to identify users, such as the widely popular dating app Tinder.
There was no immediate response from Facebook, though Instagram did tweet that engineers were working on the problem.
