Ex-nuclear minister to be extradited to Russia

Former Russian atomic energy minister Yevgeny Adamov, suspected of diverting US funds that were to be used for nuclear security, is to be extradited to Russia from Switzerland, according to Russian news reports.

Adamov was arrested on May 2 on a US warrant while he was visiting his daughter in the Swiss capital, Bern.

US justice officials have accused him of diverting up to $9m (€7.6m) from funds intended to improve Russian nuclear security into private projects in the US, Ukraine and Russia.
