Drivers warned of dangerous conditions

14/01/2010 - 08:03:59
The AA is warning motorists of a litany of hazards on the roads this morning.

Ice, flooding, fog, fallen debris and road damage, including cracks and potholes, have made many national routes hazardous.

Meanwhile, hundreds of householders around the country are still awaiting the return of their water supply, after sub-zero temperatures left pipes frozen and burst.

Dublin city council has warned that it could take up to three or four for the city's supply to return to normal levels and many residents remain without water.

Cork City Council restored water to about 4,000 homes mainly on the north side of the city which had been without supply since Monday.

Local authorities have advised people to check their websites for information on possible curtailment of supplies.
