Dancer at centre of Berlusconi trial fails to show in court

Italian magistrates have ordered police to find the Moroccan nightclub dancer at the centre of Silvio Berlusconi's sex trial, after she failed to show up to court.

Karima El Mahroug, better known by her stage name of "Ruby the Heart-stealer", was due to testify today but failed to notify the court that she wouldn't be there. Her lawyer said she did not know where her client was.

The former Italian Prime Minister is accused of paying for sex with Ruby, while she was underage.

Berlusconi confirmed over the weekend that he intended to run for office again in a general election likely to be held in February.
