Business group in Brussels to discuss Shannon options
28/08/2007 - 12:15:48Members of the Atlantic Connectivity Alliance are in Brussels today to discuss possible supports available to Shannon Airport following the axing of the Heathrow route.
A series of meetings with the Transport Commission and the Competition Commission have been arranged by Irish MEPs Sean O'Neachtain and Brian Crowley.
The Atlantic Connectivity Alliance is a coalition of business and tourism groups set up in opposition to Aer Lingus's decision to axe its services between Shannon and Heathrow.
The options being discussed this morning include supports for other airlines to operate the route, as well as the issue of state aid for the western region.
