The mother of a British man accused of trying to grab a police officer's gun to shoot Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has won approval from a judge to visit her son in federal custody in Las Vegas.
Lynne Sandford, from Dorking, was not in court for a hearing at which Michael Steven Sandford's defence lawyer said her client is in a "delicate mental state".
Mr Sandford did not speak in court.
In court filings, deputy federal public defender Brenda Weksler says her client has been on suicide watch at a US government detention centre about 50 miles west of Las Vegas.
US Magistrate Judge Cam Ferenbach decided that a meeting might help resolve the case. A date was not set for the meeting.
Mr Sandford is due for trial on October 3.
