Bookies pledge to make changes in gaming advertising

Heads of major UK bookmakers, including Paddy Power, have taken full-page newspaper ads to announce voluntary changes on advertising gaming.

They include stopping TV adverts for things like free bets before the watershed and removing all ads for gaming machines from their shop windows.

Another of the changes proposed by UK bookies is to devote 20% of shop window advertising space to responsible gambling messages.

It will come into effect at the start of next month.
