A woman in the US has been charged with animal abuse after her barking dogs allegedly gave her neighbour's chicken a heart attack.

Joy C. McDonald is devastated to have been handed the charge after her pet pooches – Peaches and Domino - allegedly scared a neighbour's chicken to death when they got annoyed at the cock while running loose.

Joy is in disbelief at the misdemeanour, especially as the Chihuahuas are said to weigh around 5lbs between them.

She told the Kansas City star: "I just can’t wrap my mind around it. All of this because of a dead chicken.”
