UK police officer spends 20 minutes 'chasing himself'

An undercover police officer in the UK spent 20 minutes "chasing himself round the streets".
The plain-clothed officer – who has not been named – was looking for suspects in a town in Sussex that had been hit by a series of burglaries when a camera operator radioed through to him that there was someone "acting suspiciously" in the area.
The junior officer started following the "suspect" and was told by the operator that he was "hot on his heels", but it turned out to be himself.
An anonymous officer – who is thought to be the person who realised the mistake - told Police magazine: “Every time the man darted in to another side alleyway, the PC was turning immediately into the same alleyway, but every time the CCTV operator asked what he could see there was no trace.
“With the sergeant’s sides aching from laughter he pointed out to the PC that the operator had been watching him unaware that he was a plain-clothes officer – thus the PC had been chasing himself round the streets.”
