Truck driver 'midwife' ready for labour
A truck driver in the US has started carrying a "birth kit" after delivering three babies on the side of the road.
Michael Hawthorne has helped a trio of couples in the last 13 years and his latest success story occurred when he had merely pulled over on the freeway 75 miles north of Dallas to check his load.
Jack Smith ran over to him and told him his wife was in labour in a parked car and he couldn't get any signal on his phone.
Michael - whose mum used to be a midwife - said: "I went ahead, got my bottle of water, gloves and birth kit and took it to the car."
He then delivered a healthy baby boy shortly before the emergency services turned up.
