An answer to the chicken and egg conundrum?

A chicken has been born without an egg in Sri Lanka.
The animal passed out of a hen's body as a baby chick, as opposed to the normal route of incubating outside its mother, who died from internal wounds as a result of the birth, within an egg.
The egg was incubated inside the hen for 21 days before hatching, and the chick is said to be healthy and fully formed.
PR Yapa, a vet in Welimada, said "I had only heard about such aberrations, but I was able to see it for myself today.
"There were lacerations and a tear of the reproductive tract that caused the death. The baby is doing well."
The news comes shortly after an egg slightly larger than a one-pence piece, which thought to be the world's smallest, was hatched earlier this week in Montana, US.
