23-year-old woman 'ages 50 years in days'
A 23-year-old Vietnamese woman claims to have aged 50 years in days.
Doctors have been left baffled by Nguyen Thi Phuong who looks like an elderly woman following an allergic reaction to seafood, she claims.
She told Vietnamese newspaper Thanh Nien: "I was really itchy all over my body. I had to scratch even while sleeping."
Some medical experts think Nguyen - who wears a mask whenever she goes out - is suffering from lipodystrophy, a condition whereby a layer of fatty tissue is created beneath the surface of the skin, causing it to disintegrate.
She added: "The skin on my face, chest and belly have folds like an old woman who has given birth several times although I have never had a child.
"But the rapid-ageing syndrome hasn't affected my menstrual cycle, hair, teeth, eyes and mind."
