Bangkok shrine bombing: Police arrest foreign suspect

A foreign suspect has been arrested in the investigation into a deadly shrine bombing in Bangkok, according to Thai police.

The man was arrested in Nong Jok on the outskirts of the capital.

National deputy police chief Chakthip Chaijinda said: “It is most likely he is related to the bombing at Rajaprasong. We found bomb materials in his apartment.”

The blast at the Erawan Shrine in the Rajaprasong area on August 17 killed 20 people.

National police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said the arrested person is a foreigner but refused to say if he was Turkish, as was reported by some local news organisations.
