A baby girl has been shot dead while riding in a car, US authorities have said.
The Cleveland county medical examiner’s office says emergency medics rushed the five-month-old girl to a children’s hospital, where she died after she was in the chest on East 143rd Street near Kinsman Avenue.
Police said the baby’s mother was driving with at least one other person in a neighbourhood a few miles south east of the city centre, and only the child, identified locally as Aavielle Wakefield, was hit.

Officials suspect the gunfire came from an apartment building, but no immediate arrests were made.
It is the third deadly drive-by shooting of a child in Cleveland over the past month.
A three-year-old boy and a five-year-old boy were killed in September.
