Anti-gay church has right to picket funerals, US court rules
The US Supreme Court has ruled that an anti-gay church has the right to picket military funerals as part of the US constitution's guarantee of freedom of speech.
The Westboro Baptist Church has protested at hundreds of military funerals to promote its claim that God is angry at America for its tolerance of homosexuality.
The court's 8-1 ruling was a defeat for Albert Snyder, the father of a Marine killed in Iraq in 2006.
Snyder's 20-year-old son, Matthew, was not gay.
