Visitors to the Eiffel Tower have been evacuated, following an anonymous phone call claiming some kind of attack was imminent.

Visitors to the Eiffel Tower have been evacuated, following an anonymous phone call claiming some kind of attack was imminent.

Around 1,400 people were evacuated and a security perimeter has been set up around the monument in central Paris.

The call apparently threatened an attack at 8:30pm Irish time.

Special police units are currently inspecting the Eiffel Tower, and anti-terrorism unit is investigating.
